I’m always a tad nervous when it comes to meeting new clients – I never know what to expect! Some clients can take a while to warm up to the camera, while others just spring right into action! Miranda and Greg were one of the couples that won a free session with me back in August, (yes – I am super late blogging this), and I could tell from the minute Miranda asked if we could do the session at a coffee shop that we were going to get along just fine! It worked out perfectly because Greg is the manager of this amazing coffee shop, Cavo Coffee, in Houston and it was probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing shops I have been to in a long time. It was the ideal location for our session.
We spent the evening drinking coffee and walking around as I captured their love for each other – it was a perfect evening. Fast forward a couple of weeks to when Hurricane Harvey hit – I received an email from a friend of Miranda’s explaining that Miranda and Greg had lost their home to the hurricane. All of their photos in frames and on USBs, along with so many memories were destroyed due to this horrific natural disaster. Their dear friend, Christina, was hoping I could send her some photos from this session to surprise them with for their new apartment, and I, of course, said yes! A few days later I received this text from Miranda below.
The. Emotions. Were. So. Real. Her text explains perfectly why I love photography, and being able to capture these moments. It’s not about taking the perfect picture where everything is in place and every shot is posed, it’s about capturing the moments that are messy and real, the ones where you’re laughing so hard you don’t care that your hair isn’t perfect or that your eyes are closed. Those are the images I love to create and I am just so thankful that my silly little free couples session was able to turn into something more for this sweet couple. *Insert crying enjoy* Now, enough of my thoughts, take a look at this amazing couple and their session below!
